Candied fruit, also known as crystallized fruit or glace fruit, has been around since the 14th century. They are crystallized or candied fruits and peel, and are made from real fruit pieces that have been soaked in sugar syrup which absorbs the moisture from within the fruit and eventually preserve it. They are primarily used in festive cooking such as fruit cakes, mincemeat mixes and as a key ingredient in Panettone and Cassata.


How To Use:

These glace pears make an excellent accompaniment to cheese or ingredient used in baking. They can also be used in Mediterranean cooking as a substitute for dried fruits, in breakfast dishes with couscous or in tagines. Use them to make panforte or in any recipe that calls for dried or candied fruits.
