How to Use
Put 2-3 tablespoons of seeds into a jar. ¾ fill the jar with cold water to cover the seeds and let sit for about 8 hours to soak and activate- screw on your sprouting lid. After soaking, agitate the seeds and drain water from the jar. Fill the jar with water and rinse until the water runs clear. Shake off any additional water so the seeds are dry. Stand upside down on its sprouting lid in the sink or on the kitchen bench to allow any additional water to drain through. (Sprouts do not need lots of light to grow so avoid putting the jar in direct sunlight.) The jar will now just contain your activated seeds. Each morning and afternoon, fill the jar with cold water and rinse the sprouts, gently shaking off any excess water before tipping upside down to drain- you must do this a minimum of twice a day as they grow. You can give them a good shake and move them around to ensure good airflow and even growing. When water is drained out of the jar, it’s a good idea to lay your jar on its side to obtain even disbursement of the seeds so they are not clumped. Within 2 days you will see the seeds starting to sprout legs. Once they get into full growing mode then you may find that you need to rinse them with water a little more often during the day to make sure they are clean and not smelly. The key is to keep them free from sitting in water after each rinse. The sprouts will almost fill the jar when grown this should take between 4-6 days. You can then give them a really good rinse them with cold water, drain really well ensuring they are moisture free then cover and store in the fridge. Once ready to harvest, simply remove from the jar, gently rinse and eat. Add them to sandwiches & wraps, salads, or serve as a yummy garnish on top of any savoury dish. Sprouts can be refrigerated in an airtight container (just screw a lid onto your jar) and kept for up to 4 or 5 days
