This short grain rice has a ‘sticky’ texture, and binds together well which makes it great for sushi, donburi bowls and rice balls. It is slightly sweet and chewy which makes it great in rice puddings too, such as mango sticky rice. This Certified Organic Sushi Rice is grown in Argentina without any synthetic inputs. It has no added preservatives and is non GMO.

How to Use

To cook: Rinse under running water then drain. Add 2 cups of water to every cup of rice. Bring to the boil in an uncovered pot. With the lid on reduce heat to simmer for 15 minutes. If you are making sushi, season the rice with 1/3 c rice vinegar, 3 tbs sugar and 1.5 tsp salt and leave to cool. You can then spread your seasoned sushi rice over nori sheets, make sure to leave a 2cm gap on one end, then fill with your favourite fillings and roll towards the gap. Add a little water to help the nori stick together. It is also delicious for breakfast as a substitute for oats. If you pre-cook your rice it will last in the fridge for 3-5 days so each morning all you need to do is scoop some of your rice into a pot with milk and warm it up, then add fresh fruit, maple syrup or honey and perhaps some yoghurt or nut butter.
